Reaper #2148: Guardian Wraith [1 of 3]
I painted this for Iron Painter 6, round 2 (theme was "Full Metal Jacket").
According to Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary Version published 1913, regarding the noun form of jacket, "1. A short upper garment, extending downward to the hips; a short coat without skirts." This miniature's breastplate seems close enough to that description for me. :)
My thought for this miniature is to have the metallics stand-out, seeming the most concrete part, whereas everything else would be more ethereal. I hope to do that by painting the metal with metallic paint (something that I have only done once (poorly) on the first miniature I painted since returning to the hobby in 2006), whereas the rest of the miniature would be painted with an ethereal/moonlit style.
Some firsts for me on this entry: Metallics done with shading/highlighting, moonlight scene, non-OSL directional lighting (if that makes sense :) ).
Will the judges like this interpretation? Was I able to make an interesting piece? I will have to wait for the scores to tell. :)
This miniature is mounted on a Wyrd Base Inserts - Graveyard - 30mm (WMBA5001).
